My husband and I have been living in our home for more than a decade now, and it has to be said many of the rooms are looking a bit worse for wear.

Unfortunately both the kitchen and bathroom seem to have reached the point of no return and it looks like a total revamp is going to be needed.

The dilemma is where do you start? At the moment there appears to be a vast amount of kitchens and bathrooms on the market. Should you be considering a modern theme, maybe traditional, or perhaps just go for the wow factor?

Currently a few of our local DIY shops have some great deals on their kitchens and bathrooms, but is buying at the local DIY store always the best decision?

Maybe you might be best suited buying from a specialist company. At the moment it would appear that a lot of the larger companies have some absolutely great deals on offer. With the current economic market, the choice is yours and if you shop around you will be able to play one company against another, ensuring you get the best deals possible.

Of course, please bear in mind that even though you may seem to be getting a great deal, these companies are still making a profit out of you. Why not have a go at pushing them to drop their prices a little further, after all you have nothing to loose by trying.

Another important factor when revamping any room is choosing your accessories. Kitchen accessories can make or break a room. You have to make sure they blend in well with the style of the kitchen. The bathroom is a bit of a simpler room to decorate. Bathroom accessories can be easily mixed and matched, and changed from month to month.

The problem we will have is by decorating both the kitchen and bathroom our lounge is going to look a bit old and tired. It might be a good idea to buy some home furnishings. Having these would certainly brighten up the room and would not have to cost a fortune. With all this going on at home, it looks like it is going to be a busy couple of months ahead.
